Exodus: Gods and Kings

Standard

Lame, lame, LAME.

Sorry, but Christian Bale is in the Keanu Reeves category where acting ability is concerned: same face, same voice, no emotion. Not impressed.
If you’re looking for something that’ll match up with the Bible, well…let’s just say it matches up better than Noah did. The writer took some artistic license with the story, but isn’t that what movies are all about?

We saw it in 3D IMAX and it was really cool. The animations were above average, which made the large images that much better.

The story didn’t captivate me. It’s an old story and I’ve heard it and seen it in many different forms. This version was okay, but I could’ve walked out unconcerned about the rest. You know the good guy is going to win…eventually.

The plagues grossed me out, especially the frogs. The boils looked more like blisters and so were unimpressive.

This movie would have been better had they explained to the non-believer what was going on in between the plagues, why Moses wasn’t a part of the family-they touched on it, but not enough.

I just couldn’t take this movie seriously with Sigourney Weaver in it! I don’t care how much makeup you put on her, she does not look Egyptian. Everybody had a different “theatrical British” accent, too, so that was confusing.

The one thing I did like about the movie was the love story between Moses and his wife. That was a nice touch, but out of place.

Two stars. **
